Work at Animal Protectors and make a difference in the lives of needy animals
Animal caregiver’s primary duties involve direct care of the Animal Protectors animals including feeding, medicating, cleaning of cages, stocking supplies and the general cleaning of the shelter. Caregivers are in direct contact with the public, volunteers and other staff and therefore must be a self-starter, have a positive attitude and work well with others. Animal Protectors is a fast-paced, high stress environment.
All animals are to be treated with respect and handled gently so as to not cause undue stress on the animal.
Ability to understand oral and written directions;
Ability to handle large dogs;
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds;
Ability to bend, stoop, push and pull;
Ability to operate equipment to include washer, dryer, wet vac;
Ability to communicate with the public and other staff;
Ability to multitask;
At least one year previous work experience
1 year animal handling experience
Flexibility to work holidays and weekends
High school diploma or equivalent
Reliable transportation and PA driver's license
