All Animal Protectors volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. If you are under 18 years of age a parent or guardian signature is required before you can begin.
The minimum age for dog care volunteers and office/adoption volunteers is 18. After six months of consistent volunteering in other areas, volunteers aged 16-17 may be considered for dog care opportunities. Children 16-17 years of age may volunteer in all other capacities with signed permission of parent or legal guardian, who is required to accompany the child to the shelter to sign the waiver. Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to volunteer or to accompany parents during their hours of service.
All volunteers must attend a volunteer orientation. Orientations are scheduled in small groups or a one-on-one basis. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out an application and return it to the shelter office. Someone will be in contact with you shortly to discuss your application and to set up a time to meet for orientation!
Orientations take about 2 hours. You can expect to:

Please remember that volunteering is a commitment to an organization or a cause that you truly believe in. We value your efforts and your enthusiasm to want to volunteer at Animal Protectors. Animal Protectors is an organization that relies almost solely on our volunteers; our volunteers make up 95% of our “workforce.” The shelter animals and our staff depend on our dedicated team of volunteers.
If you have any questions, feel free to email the Volunteer Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Volunteer Committee thanks you for giving your time to volunteer at Animal Protectors. We want this to be a rewarding experience for both you and our animals.
