New Directions Due to Road Construction 

Route 366 is currently under construction and has closed the entrance to the shelter from the main road. There are many detours in effect and we are open during construction!

Traveling on 366 from the Oakmont, Plum, Penn Hills area: The shelter will be on your left once you enter onto Route 366. Pass the shelter. Turn left onto 7th Street. You will see a BP on your left, turn left at the BP onto Linden Avenue. Follow Linden Avenue until you reach the shelter on your right.

Traveling on 366 from Lower Burrell, Tarentum, Natrona Heights area: Turn right onto 7th Street. You will see a BP on your left, turn left at the BP onto Linden Avenue. Follow Linden Avenue until you reach the shelter on your right.

From the Ninth Street bridge: Turn right off of the bridge coming from Springdale and Creighton area. Go to the light at 7th Street and turn left. Follow 7th Street over the tracks to the BP station and turn right onto Linden Avenue. Follow Linden Avenue until you reach the shelter on your right.

 Who We Are 

We are a no-kill, non-profit shelter located in New Kensington, PA. Our shelter is always full of animals, many which are strays. Our shelter is a constant stream of activity. New animals are examined for possible problems, medical charts are checked and medication is administered, when needed. Cat cages and dog kennels are cleaned daily. From the time the shelter opens until it closes, there's a constant flurry of cleaning, feeding, exercising, cuddling, caring. Fresh food, water, litter boxes, and blankets are placed in each cage daily.

Since we depend on volunteers, our office hours are limited to:

Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Wednesday 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Other times by appointment.

 
Adoption Promotions

Ask about our Cat Companion Program, where you get a free cat from our companion cat list, with the adoption of any of our other cats. Also ask about our "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" campaign, where you get a free cat bed and comb, or scratch post when adopting a cat in this program. These are affectionate, well-mannered house cats that have been overlooked by adopters.

Volunteers Needed!

Our shelter is always in need of dedicated and caring animal lovers who are willing to sacrifice their time to help care for our many dogs and cats that reside at the shelter. Volunteers are needed to help walk and bathe dogs, socialize cats, aid in animal transportation to vet appointments and shelter events, and more! If you have the time to help an animal in need, please contact the shelter at 724-339-7388 for volunteer information. Working with our animals is truly a rewarding experience!
